Latest Updates from Our Project:

New Greens, some painted stuff, and a survey update!

Ahoy Backers- I've got a lot packed into this update, so strap in!

Halloween Monologue Ramblings

Halloween is a big deal at Fosshaus, and we really go all out. We do a "buy back" program with the Fosslings, where they get to keep 15 pieces of candy, then we buy all the rest back. Negotiations ensue about what cost per size and are tootsie rolls really candy. When the dust cleared, I was $60 lighter (a lot cheeper than dealing with a cavity)  and now have over 15lbs of candy that I need to donate, hopefully to the firefigthers up to the north.

We also have a tradition afterwards, we call "Pumpkin Wars".  They seldom stand a chance...

New Greens!

Speaking of candy, look at this eye candy! Drew is hard at work finishing up the last of the stretch goal pieces and variations  so they can be molded this month.

Saint and Putti

The Saint and Putti are super charming and are fantastic little stories unto themselves.  the handgunners are, aside from one single 1980's Citadel casting, the only skeleton gunners made. Can't wait to see these guys in a unit!

Handgunners! Woot

 First Look: Painted Stuff

Here's a few pieces I've gotten a chance to paint up this week.  I know- you are soooo jealous that I get to paint these up first! And you would be right to feel that way- but remember, I don't get to keep these, they are bespoke to one of you backers!   (still, lots of fun to paint!)

Survey Updates!

Last but not least, The Backerkit survery is coming along swell. I have a couple of questions out to Backerkit team about how to set up your pledge choices, and hope to have it all ironed out so that I can get the surveys out ASAP. I'm hoping for next week, but also don't know how long the revew and thumbs up process is. Still, we are on track. yay!

I've got a few more things- but will save them for the next update. Take care and don't eat too much Halloween candy!

Cheers

Cannon and Stretch Goal Casts!
over 4 years ago – Tue, Oct 29, 2019 at 01:52:06 AM

Ahoy Shamblers!

New Master casts just arrived for review before going off for production casting! They all look fantastic- Drew Day Williams is a Maestro sculptor.

Now one of the bonus' of being the Kickstarter creator is I get to be the first to paint up these guys. Here's an example. This guy (and most all the other guys you will see me paint) Actually goes to the discrerning backer who snatched up the painted collection of Death set.

That's all for now-  I hope you are as excited about these as I am.

Cheers!  Ths

Really fun and quite easy to paint up.

Bats! A tutorial- and other stuff
over 4 years ago – Thu, Oct 24, 2019 at 11:59:03 PM

Gone Batty!

Ahoy Deadheads!

Back from my vacation- where I ran a couple of games at Wiley Wargames Weekend in Independance Missouri, for my pal Jaye Wiley of Wiley Games. https://wiley-games.myshopify.com/

I also made a new tutorial on how to make fast and cheap (and cool) bat swarms- the perfect compliment for an undead army. I've been making these guys for years, but finally had time to document the process. You can find the tutorial over on my Skull and Crown blog  http://skullandcrown.blogspot.com/2019/10/bats-tutorial.html

Other news!

I have started working on the Backerkit survey, with the goal to get it out by the end of the month, give or take a day.  It's pretty straight forward but has lots of moving parts, so taking is slowly is the way to go.

New Casts!

Well, not yet, but my caster is supposed to send me some this weekend, so I'll have some new casts to show- and Drew is scheduled to finish up on all the greens/masters by the end of the month as well. I love it when a plan comes together!

Lastly, I got my shipment of plastic sprue rods, and will be putting together the how to make pikes and spears demo this weekend. Hoping to do a video!

That's it for now- have a safe and sane Halloween!

Cheers

Congrats to you all!

Saint Colin Dude, Patron saint of Surfers

Woot!

What an exciting and humbling and exciting Kickstarter - thank you all! From your backing to your questions and your feedback, it's really been fun.  And now the fun fun part on my end begins.

Next Steps

This evening while watching the clock count down and the pledges go up (and up...and up), I've contacted Backerkit and have established all the preliminary stuff.  Yay!  I'll be starting to set up the surveys and "store" (or whatever Backerkit calls it) during the next week. Note - I will be on vacation for the following week. The goal is to have the survey ready by the end of the month. During that time Drew will be working on sculpts the first master molds will be made, and miniatures checked for quality before making production molds.   I'll be sharing all of these steps with you as we move forward.

Tutorial Stuff

I'll be sending out my tutorial on how to make spears and pikes from the styrene rods. That may be via photos, or maybe a video, or both - still thinking it through.  I'll also do an updated tutorial on painting up ToD minis.  I was hoping to get these out already, but you'ze guys kept me busy at night working on new concepts for Stretch Goals :).

And  finally, from both Drew and myself, thanks for supporting this Kickstarter and the idea that art is something that is needed in this world.  I can't wait to see what you all do with your miniatures!

More soon. Until then I remain your most humble and Obd't toy maker,

Did you know that I also make laser cut wooden toy soldiers? This is my St. Colin for your car dashboard

$27K Stretch Goal unlocked in the Home stretch! You'ze guys are beyond cool!  That's 10 count'm 10 Stretch Goal unlocks!

Woot! Wee skellies for you and me!

Thank you- and with 3 hours left on the Kickstarter- I am sad (and a bit relieved) I don't currently have another Stretch Goal to challenge you with.

Speaking of cool- one of your fellow backers, Michael Booker, who has also backed my last Kickstarter, Killer Rabbits, has made this wonderful mashup miniature. I totes love it !

Thanks again, as we'll see what the next few hours brings us!

Cheers
